JT Whitney's, Madison, Wisconsin
Granted, we played until Easter rang in at midnight to a select
group of sinners at JT Whitney’s—formerly a school of
martial arts and black eyes but now a microbrewery with the last
remaining Sky Shark arcade machine in the corner (and by the way
don’t waste your quarters, it’s out of order).
But keep this in mind, ye who may caste stones at our negligence
to celebrate this holiday with massive amounts of sugar and chocolate,
as per the common man’s norm. Easter is about overcoming adversity
and delivering with chutzpah, or to quote the scripture: “Christ
is risen from the dead, Trampling down death by death, And upon
those in the tombs, Bestowing life!” And yes, there may not
have been any Easter baskets, only a couple resurrections when some
drunk guys passed out and woke up at the bar to get taxis to go
home, and sadly no Cadbury Easter eggs (and thank God there were
no Peeps, I hate those things), but in these important items stead
there was an abundance psychedelic guitar soloing, animalistic drum
soloing, and bludgeoning bass quakes, and I think this is an overcoming
of adversity and delivering…with feeshaw chutzpah.
Amen.
