The Plymouth Arts Center
The citizens of Plymouth were up in arms starting bon fires in
the streets. Once our tour bus hit the city limits, we felt a little
uneasy. Piles of burning debris, mounds of inflamed embers, possibly
one or two human sacrifices rotisserie style, was everyone in Plymouth
mad? No—this is how the town celebrates. It was Hot Days,
and, coupled with every man, woman, and child finding and burning
everything in sight, we were the entertainment. How could we possibly
entertain these maniacs?—easy, tell them were the “hottest”
band in Madison and play our high-knees off. And that’s what
we did, right in the center of the only building in town that wasn’t
under siege—the Plymouth Arts Center. Thank god the pyromania
hadn’t spread so far that the common citizenry felt the urge
to burn art, otherwise we may’ve never made it out. Instead,
people came, drank hot cocoa, and listened to us play in the acoustically-best
venue we’ve played at yet. We kept the volume down because
the sound carried excellently in the room. When people clapped it
sounded like high time during the Battle of the Bulge. Very receptive
crowd, very supportive of music. And, thank God, we made it out
without getting burned to death...they must've liked us.
