King Club, Madison, WI
Deep in Clovis Mann headquarters our intelligentsia received a
mysterious phone call. Who could it be? A damsel in distress? A
telemarketer? Don Majkowski? All we had to go on was the gravelly
voice that said:
“Clovis Mann, we need your help. We have a weekly Wednesday
show at the King Club called Whiskey Wednesdays, and we’d
like you to open for us.”
Whiskey Wednesdays?!? Instantly, our intelligentsia realized it
was another group of musicians trying to fight evil and corruption
in the Madison local music scene, a group we've been known to share
a whiskey...and even a home with, it was none other than the four
bearded band known as Run
Side Down.
Quickly, we sprung into action and from 10:00-11:15 played all
of our chart toppers for our adoring fans inclduing, among others,
a drunken silver-haired Republican ex-state senators we wouldn’t
mention by name so as not to hurt his credibility (Bob Welch).
Following us Run Side Down played their asses off and sounded great--thanks
again for having us come out and play. It truly was an unholy bond
between us two bands, a Cain and Able, Favre and Sharpe, Ax
and Smash type union that, on this otherwise mundane Wednesday
night, eradicated evil and corruption from the King Club.
